PATNA: RJD national vice-president Shivanand Tiwary on Thursday alleged that Lalu Prasad has been released “with his hands and feet tied” and blamed “a BJP leader from Bihar” for the stringent conditions which his parole has been subjected to.
Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi condemned questions being raised by RJD leaders and supporters over the terms of parole granted to Lalu Prasad.
In a statement issued shortly after Lalu Prasad arrived here this evening to attend the wedding of elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, Tiwary also alleged that the BJP leader – whom he did not wish to name – was helped in his intentions by the government of the neighboring state of Jharkhand, which is ruled by the saffron party.
“Lalu has been released on parole with his hands and feet tied. Release had been sought for five days but it was granted for only three days. He has been restrained from meeting any party leader or activist during the period and close watch will be kept on his movements by security personnel from both Bihar and Jharkhand”, Tiwary said.
“It has been heard that all the hurdles in Lalu’s way have been laid by a Bihar BJP leader. It was at his instance that deployment of Jharkhand police in the name of Lalu’s security and to ensure compliance with terms of parole have been effected”, he said.
“The BJP leader has always suffered from an inferiority complex when it comes to his relationship with Lalu. He has got a chance to gratify his impotent desire to display his own strength before Lalu. He has got an opportunity with help from the Jharkhand government”, Tiwary alleged.
“But the BJP leader is perhaps not aware that the more Lalu is harassed, the stronger he emerges”, he added.
Meanwhile, Sushil Kumar Modi condemned questions being raised by RJD leaders and supporters over the terms of parole granted to Lalu Prasad.
“Lalu has been convicted in as many as four fodder scam cases. He is also an accused in the railway land for hotels scam. Nonetheless, his party raised fingers at the judiciary whenever it pronounced a judgment on their leader”, Sushil tweeted.
“Be it the quantum of punishment awarded to Lalu, where he be admitted for medical treatment, for how long he be admitted at AIIMS and for what length of time parole be granted – RJD leaders have indulged in making irresponsible statements on all these issues”, he tweeted.
“Would the Constitution be safe if decisions on all these issues were taken as per the wishes of a convict”, Sushil tweeted, taking a swipe at the “Samvidhan Bachao” yatra that was recently undertaken by Prasad’s younger son and the leader of the opposition in the state assembly Tejashwi Yadav.
